The RD&D activities to be funded under this Lab Call will support the government-wide approach to the climate crisis by driving the innovation that can lead to the deployment of clean energy technologies, which are critical for climate protection. Specifically, the solid-state and flow battery manufacturing technologies in this Lab Call each have the potential to make a unique contribution to decarbonization of the grid, industry, and transportation. Generally, this Lab Call supports battery manufacturing innovation to enable the energy infrastructure needed for carbon pollution-free electricity by 2035 and net zero GHG emissions by 2050.
This Lab Call is divided into two topics: Topic 1) Developing Innovative Solid-State Battery Manufacturing Capabilities, and Topic 2) Developing Innovative Flow Battery Manufacturing Capabilities.
