This funding opportunity seeks proposals for new technical, business and implementation solutions to deliver energy efficiency in small commercial buildings (50,000 sq. ft. or smaller) resulting in energy savings of at least 20% in existing buildings and meeting or exceeding Architecture 2030 50% Challenge targets in new construction. Proposers should identify and address the key barriers in the market, and demonstrate how their solution will address these barriers, through demonstration and deployment activities, resulting in uptake at scale in the target market. Proposals should concisely describe how the team, as led by a partner that exhibits deep understanding and orientation to the small commercial buildings market, and has a demonstrated ability to successfully implement market uptake programs, will move innovative energy efficiency solutions forward in at least one subsector of the small commercial buildings market. Successful proposals must demonstrate a clear plan for further scalability so that projects come out of the funding period with the necessary elements to support a robust multi-region or national program. Successful awards will fund the design and development of innovative technical and market uptake solutions, demonstration of the solution to reach energy performance targets in at least one sub-market (geographic and/or building type), and development or implementation of a plan to take the model to national scale.
